Kansas City didn't include bonuses in a group of firefighters' base compensation when it calculated their overtime rate as required by federal law, a Missouri federal judge found.
U.S. Magistrate Judge W. Brian Gaddy said Wednesday that Kansas City underpaid its firefighters' overtime after failing to include wage augments in only a portion of the hours they worked, resulting in an underpayment of their overtime and a violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Read more.
